Daughter of the Sun follows a woman carrying the memories and unfinished dreams of generations as she sets out to claim a future of her own. Behind her are family gatherings, grief, her grandmother’s prayers and the warmth of a home that distance cannot erase. Ahead lies the promise of wealth, freedom and recognition. She enters that world with hunger, intelligence and defiance, determined to make something of everything her family has lived through.

But opportunity comes with bargains she did not expect. The people offering a way forward trade in the same lives, cultures and dreams she comes from. Businessmen become demons, the future changes hands on a black market, and history becomes a museum where someone else owns the family’s scars. She is drawn to power even as she recognises its violence. Every step towards success brings her closer to a question: what is she willing to become to get there?

As memories, nightmares and possible futures collide, her journey becomes a struggle over what she will carry forward. Written by Kage Sparks, the album draws on his own experiences and those of the women who shaped his life—his wife, daughter, mother, grandmothers and great-grandmothers. These experiences move through fiction, dark humour, spiritual imagery and speculative worlds, exploring what survival demands, what success should mean, and what the next generation will inherit.
