World Done Changed / Animated dark comedy
PLANTATION
DRIVE
Kwame wants useful work.
The institution has a role for him.

The series
Welcome to
Plantation Drive.
Plantation Drive is an animated dark comedy series exploring extraction, digital colonisation and what it means to be human as AI takes over more of our work, decisions and everyday lives.
Kwame Mensah joins an automated institution hoping to find security, recognition and useful work as a Human Oversight Officer.
More about the story +
Through surreal encounters and uncomfortable humour, Plantation Drive explores how old relationships of ownership and exploitation can reappear beneath the promise of technological progress. Who benefits when human knowledge and labour feed systems people do not control? What happens to dignity, purpose and belonging when those systems can replace them? And how much freedom remains when even thinking for yourself becomes an interruption to the machinery?
01 / Impossible scale
Somebody’s life.
On somebody else’s desk.
A living miniature town turns administration into something Kwame can see. What looks efficient from above becomes an interrupted life below.

Performance
The face tells another story.
A raised eyebrow, an unfinished joke, a silence that lasts too long. Kwame’s reactions let the comedy become uncomfortable.
Animation
A welcoming place. An impossible job.
Floating heads hold pleasant conversations while detached hands keep working. Expressive animation makes the institution’s logic visible.
02 / The final scene
Human In The Loop.
LAPS 048

He keeps walking. The system keeps working. His presence is recorded.
Plantation Drive / Song to cinema
The song becomes a film.
A cinematic expression of Plantation Drive, bringing the song into another form within the wider world.

The same questions.
Another way to feel them.
The animated series sits within a larger property developed through music, a trailer, comics, essays and an earlier cinematic treatment.

Original comic & cinematic treatment
A working week.
A rising tide.
A warm welcome. A glass cubicle. Water that keeps rising. The original treatment makes pressure physical through a different visual language.
The teal office world and Kwame’s animated institution explore related questions. They retain their own characters, tone and story form.
